Societies in your own backyard are independent of the ASPCA (NY) and
HSUS. In addition to local shelters, rescue groups, each county
has a government agency that houses animals as well. Call ahead to
find out what's on their wish list. Food, supplies, bedding, litter, toys,
leashes, collars, or volunteer your time.
